Basket weaving is a traditional trade that is passed down through the generations. It is a family business in which both men and women are weavers. Weaving is learned hands-on and is usually begun as simply helping out a family member or even a neighbor! Not all the Amish know how to weave, so only a few families in any Amish community are basket makers. We are so very fortunate to have found this local Amish family that excells in the art of basket weaving!! Each basket is a work of art and is signed and dated by the craftsman at completion. These baskets are simply awesome!!
